Plugin
In short and in plain language
A plugin is an add-on for shop or website software.
It brings extra functions, such as ways to pay or forms. Depending on the system it is also called an extension or add-on.
Each extra plugin can mean more work to look after the site. It can also give attackers more ways in.
Definition
A plugin is an extension that adds further functions to shop or website software, such as payment methods or forms. Depending on the system it is also called an extension or add-on. Every additional plugin can increase maintenance effort and the possible attack surface.
