P95
Abbreviation for 95th percentile
In short and in plain language
P95 is a value from a set of measurements.
Nearly all of them fall below it. Only a small share of the slowest cases lie above it.
An average does not show this. The value shows how the site works for users with slow requests.
It is often used for the time a reply takes.
Definition
P95 refers to a percentile value: the vast majority of measurements fall below it, only a small share of the slowest cases above it. Unlike an average, it shows how the website behaves for visitors with slow requests. It is often used for response times.
