Deprecation
In short and in plain language
A deprecation is a notice. A part of a program will soon go away.
Until then it mostly still works. But there are often warnings.
Extensions that use this part should be changed in time.
Definition
A deprecation is the announcement that a function or interface of a piece of software will be removed in the future. Until then it usually still works but often produces warnings in the log. Extensions that use such functions should be adapted before the removal.
